NAR Good Neighbor Award Finalist
Renton Broker Tina McDonough
September 10, 2013
Tina McDonough, a broker at RE/MAX Select Real Estate in Renton, is one of 10 Realtors® from around the country to be named a finalist for a 2013 Good Neighbor Award. Presented by the National Association of Realtors®, the Good Neighbor Awards - the organization's top community service honor - recognize members who improve the quality of life in their communities through donations of "time, money and passion."
McDonough serves as captain of the Valley Girls & Guys! 3-Day Team to raise awareness and to fund research for breast cancer for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Since 2007, when she started with a group of four walkers, she has assembled a team of more than 168 walkers. Collectively, her teams have raised more than $1.4 million and become the number one fundraising team in the U.S.& In a testament to her passion and commitment, 75 percent of her walkers return each year.
This year, McDonough will walk in her 9th and 10th Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® events, participating in both Seattle's 60-mile event in September, then in the San Diego 60-mile event in November. In addition to her involvement with the Komen fundraiser, McDonough is an active member of the Maple Valley/Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Maple Valley.
Five Good Neighbor Award winners will be selected on October 1. They will receive a $10,000 grant for their community cause, along with travel expenses and recognition before thousands of peers during NAR's Conference & Expo in San Francisco in November. The five honorable mentions will receive a $2,500 grant. Winners will be featured in the November/December issue of REALTOR® Magazine.
"The Good Neighbor Awards signify the dedication and passion Realtors® have for helping others in need," said NAR President Gary Thomas, broker-owner of Evergreen Realty, in Villa Park, Calif. These 10 Realtors® are not only a tremendous example to others for their dedication and passion, but also they remind us that Realtors® build communities in myriad ways.
Now in its 14th year, the Good Neighbor Awards program recognize NAR members whose contributions of time and money improve the quality of life and create a positive impact on critical needs in their community. This year's finalists are profiled on NAR's website and in REALTOR® Magazine.
Liberty Mutual Insurance is the primary sponsor of the Good Neighbor Awards program.
